Types of Karaoke
How you win all these games is the same. You “Get Loony”. There is only one rule at the Pirate dive bar “You lose.” There are no do-overs, mistakes or mulligans. You use the “bribe” widget, transfer loonies to another player then that is it, your turn might have ended. You don’t know if you just got catfished. You should expect nothing in return and whatever deal you made to be broken. If you were not catfished, and got what you paid for, you are probably just being led down the garden path for an even bigger catch. Beware of all honest deals. Honest deals are possible, but they are mostly used as bait for bigger catches.
Simple Karaoke
Simple Karaoke lets you use a half dozen communication tools in noisy bars such as chat, zoom messaging and more to contact others and create fun Karaoke performances.
One tool that we are proud of is our “QR code” catfishing equipment. This is a sheet of temporary tattoos that are QR codes that link to your page at the Pirate Dive Bar. Decide on where you will place the tattoo and then dare somebody to scan it with their phone. (they are one click away from video or photo while the phone is scanning) Other people will see this and all of a sudden you get very popular as you catfish loonies.
You can lock portions of the your page with a password that you can change when you want and charge people loonies for it. You can only find loonies at the Pirate Dive Bar and the QR tattoo should be perfect bait to catfish for them. Read the “What is an epiphany” to find out how to sell your loony booty for cash.
With good care the temporary tattoo could last 4 weeks or more. You can also print your QR code on business cards or a sheet of paper cut and taped to a surface.
You do not have to create an epiphany but you do have to login to use chat, zoom, trade points, leave messages or use other features. For example on chat or zoom you might say “Can anyone help me sing “Meant to be” by Bebe Rexa. People on chat or zoom can respond or if you made an epiphany they can leave a comment. This lets you easily find dancers, photographers, back up singers, air bands and more to have fun on stage.
Performance Karaoke
This is where you re-use the same epiphany week after week to improve your performance. You can use the livestream feature to get online feedback and provide library links for video of previous performances. People who record you can post a link to their library on your epiphany so you can see what you look like. People can leave comments on all aspects of your performance. With your library links available anyone online will be able to edit and add graphics to your video then post the new clip on your epiphany. With performance Karaoke you are letting everyone help your performance improve over time by adding costume, dance, photography and many other suggestions. You will have the video library to see the results.
We encourage you to use performance Karaoke to produce a 5 to 30 second clip or comedy bumper for the TV series “Special Heroes” once you practice using it with the Karaoke Challenge Game.
Karaoke Challenge Game
The biggest booty wins! Everybody is trying to catfish loonies to make their booty bigger.
During a Catfishing Tournament your epiphany only shows actions, challenges and content you created. During an Open game you can use actions, challenges and content anybody created. You buy and sell the actions and challenges to get loony on stage. You create actions and challenges on the “Options” page. Then you or other people can use them.
You have one tool that lets you “Mutiny Against Crime,” this is a booty search.
Everybody has their own public ledger. Every bribe and every bribe message they send or receive can be seen on this ledger when you do a booty search. By scanning their activity you can determine how often they catfish somebody and how often they comply with the challenges they are given or pay the bets they owe. This is no guarantee you won’t be catfished but it gives you an idea. You use a booty search to “Mutiny Against Crime,” and avoid being catfished.
Gambling should be a part of everything you do at the pirate dive bar and there are two ways to gamble, with or without a Bootymaster.
Without a Bootymaster you could say 100 loonies the Braves win against the Dodgers (who really suck BTW) You send 1 loony to the other person with that message. They send the message back saying “Agreed”. If there is not a 100 loony transfer at the end of the game, the booty search would show that the winner was catfished. A booty search would let you avoid making a bet with that person or encourage you to catfish them with some wild pirate scheme.
Other games call them bankers, we call them Bootymasters. In the scenario above both players could have transferred 100 loonies each to the Bootymaster. That could be it, both players might have just been catfished. In the unlikely event they were not, the Bootymaster would give a fraction of the bet to the rightful winner and claim taxes and fees on the winnings.
Bootymasters are anyone that has posted an epiphany and anyone that can convince you they are the real bootymaster.
You can use a team approach to get booty. Share your login with one or a bunch of players. They can be a mix of live and online players. They put suggestions together of what the Bootymaster wants you to do to catfish loonies. They can create false profiles to set up a catfishing scheme to run side bets with other players to catfish them.
Anyone you share your login and can “Mutiny.” That is they transfer loonies into their account or somebody unsuspecting to frame them. You can follow the money trail with a Booty search. The more people you share your login with, the better ideas your team gets to develop elaborate catfishing schemes for loonies but the greater chance you have of mutiny.
As the Karaoke performer, you are now the catfishing bait and the Bootymaster is the catfisher. You are using a team approach to catfishing loonies. If you are at a sports bar livestreaming to online players this can be very effective.
How you score with your loony booty is up to you. You can score Prizes, Booby prizes or score on the leaderboard. Prizes are listed on the loony page under treasure. Booby prizes are only found on epiphanies. The leaderboard is found on the loony page under Boat Parade.

You may resolve your situation by giving a larger bribe than the one you lost to any Bootymaster. They can decide to screw you over too or award a Booby prize randomly to somebody. With or without knowing what the booby prize is, everyone can bid for it and include conditions in the message. If you do not win the bid, you do not get your loonies back, why would you? The Bootymaster can choose the bribe and the conditions they like or just keep collecting loonies and screw everyone over while describing how wonderful the booby prize is. According to the catfishing strategy the Bootymaster has, at some point they make a decision or not and that’s probably final.
The person that gets the booby prize can bribe any other Bootymaster to get rid of it or award it to somebody else. Booby prizes can be listed in secret or described as wonderful or terrible. What the prize actually ends up being will probably be part of a catfishing strategy to get loony and make everyone want the next booby prize.
Flash Mob Karaoke
You need a code phrase for the Karaoke Challenge Game. This is to distract people that don’t know what is going on. As you get on stage, before your song starts you say three things. The first is your username or stage name. The second is the word “Codeword” the last is your code phrase. When you say the word “CODEWORD” you say it loud enough to wake people up to know what is coming. The code phrase is just to confuse people that don’t know what is going to happen. The word “codeword” tells everyone they have permission to come to the stage and improvise during your song. Air guitar, dance routines, dancing, back up singers, photography, pretending you are a groupie, anything at all.
Pirate Raid
After a few months of playing the Karaoke Challenge game at your local bar, enough people will have learned the software and know what is going on. A dozen or so people all practiced, rehearsed and knowing what epiphanies each person in the group is going to perform, your gang takes the show on the road to unsuspecting landlubbers peacefully singing and getting drunk at their home port. Your purpose is to make your gang bigger.
Pirate Initiation
This is where you become a patriotic pirate. You do not have to do it on stage but you can. This is described in detail here. https://piratedivebar.com/treasure29/ Part of the initiation is singing the Drunken Sailor Song. The initiate must create a new verse for the song and sing it. This is song as a group and people play any instrument they can create. This includes spoons, kazoos, tapping on beer bottles and any improvised instrument.
Sea Shanty Karaoke
Sea Shanty Karaoke is typically the Drunken Sailor Song but you can use any Sea Shanty Song. One part of the song must include a pirate jig. If it is the Drunken sailor song, you should encourage audience participation possibly even a pirate jig line dance and use improvised instruments.
Hero Karaoke
Hero Karaoke is something very special. Once a group of people understand how flash mob karaoke and performance Karaoke work, they combine them. The song they will practice and rehearse will be part of a professional video production at a special time and place.
The flash mob will sing a favorite song of a Hero born with special powers. The Hero won’t know the flash mob will happen but the family and friends of the Hero will. They will suggest the song. In a public place or natural setting secret photographers and secretly miked performers will be standing by. The Heroes family will hide a microphone or two around the Hero. The family will get the Hero to sing whatever they can just in range of one flash mob performer who just happens to be in the area. (with permission from a hospital or treatment area this might be very special) The first flash mob performer acts surprised and starts singing along with the Hero. Others join in and the flash mob happens. The Hero is congratulated, cheered, treated as a celebrity and everybody wants to be their friend. This would create copycats (which we want) and more good cheer in the world. This would also create a clip for the TV series “Special Heroes”.
Catfishing & Bribes
Your catfishing schemes and bribery negotiations can inspire you to create skits, schemes, social media and pirate themed comedy! Landing the big loony catfish or taking loony bribes helps all the nonprofits. The features you choose are designed to give people a hilarious reason to use loonies.
People look at the too good to be true offers and just have to bite at the bait forgetting our only rule is "You Lose."
