about loony comedy
What boat?

All credit card donations go directly to the PayPal Giving fund of any nonprofit you choose. All donations are verified on our public ledger. We do not process credit cards for donations on this website or charge nonprofits fees to particpate, but there is a catch. To be listed a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit must have pirates participate in the boat parade!
We give you a pirate reward coin called a loony, for every 25 cents you donate. Loonies can be traded for typical household items and reward typical volunteers or traded for comedy items and reward comedy volunteers.
Think of our thrift and volunteer exchange as being similar to a donation box for Goodwill or the Salvation Army except our online boxes also take volunteer hours, let you perform comedy skits or play games. You don’t just drop off an item, you “Get Loony” for it. Our online donation boxes can advertise and organize your yard sale 24/7 that can be by appointment only anytime or on a specific day.
Loonies shrink by 15% each time they are used. To keep having fun playing “Get Loony,” you will have to win, donate or volunteer.
The boat parade is an example of how to trade loonies for comedy items or to reward comedy volunteers for skits, sea shanties and shenanigans. All pirates in the parade can set up their own thrift and volunteer exchange and link it to their boat. Some exchanges will have a game card that enbles live-streaming so you can choose and watch any boat in the parade and interact with it from your phone. Trade loonies with pirates on boats to play silly games, sing sea shanties, have races, see skits or engage in any type of comical, educational or exciting adventure.
The game called “Get Loony” is a comedy example that mixes typical donations and volunteers with comedy donations and volunteers. For live players a banker transfers loonies into poker chips and at the end of the game, back into electronic loonies. If online players join the live game, loonies are transferred with a widget.
The biggest booty wins and the only rule is “You Lose.” (similar to all dating websites) Loonies are always transferred first before anything happens. That way you have the greatest chance of losing your loony booty and you will have to donate, volunteer or win again to make your booty big enough to keep playing. Most of the time you will win typical and comedy donations or loonies. The grand prize is when you trade your loony booty for cash. Loonies are not redeemable for cash. But just like selling worthless monopoly money for cash, or a handful of dirt for cash, you can sell loonies for cash. If you get cash on a test transaction you might risk a larger transfer or just lose those loonies as you should when you follow our only rule, “You Lose.”
As an example. You have donated $20 to a nonprofit with PayPal Giving. You now have 80 loonies in your account. You make a deal to trade $10 cash for 60 loonies. You transfer 60 loonies to a person that accepts your deal. If you get the $10 from another person, it only cost you $10 to make a $20 donation to the nonprofit. If you don’t get cash from another person, your $20 donation stands but now you only have 20 loonies left in your account. You have not lost anything when you lose loonies with no redeemable value but you do get the chance to donate or volunteer again when you follow our only rule!
If you did get the $10 in cash, instead of donating $10 to PayPal Giving to get 40 loonies, that person gave you $10 cash and got 60 loonies. You can also use this method to have one person use their credit card to donate with PayPal Giving and let other people give them cash or volunteer to share in the credit card donation. Since loonies can be traded for volunteer time, you could trade picking up trash at a lake while people watch online, have a car wash for just your car, put on a comedy skit with reluctant comedy volunteers or volunteer at a food pantry to “Get Loony.” Then you can sell your loony booty for cash! (Will mom be surprised or want her cut?)
The card game version of Get Loony uses typical or comedy donations and volunteering as game pieces. These game pieces fall into 13 categories that are represented by Ace to King. Open season means you deal from a deck of cards built by anyone. A catfishing tournament means that each player can only use a deck of cards they built. You can build just one card for your deck or build as many as you want. Cards can be created in just a few seconds such as 10 loonies for a hot dog, or involve elaborate production skits built over weeks that include rehearsals with other players, special effects, choregraphy, costuming and production video.
You bet, barter, purchase or auction great items or bribe the bootymaster to avoid booby prizes.
Some of the cards create action, skits and cosplay. Characters include Sailors, Landlubbers, Pirates, Sharks, Mermaids, Spirit of the Ship, Captain and Bootymaster.
You can keep this website simple and avoid the tutorial by just selecting browse. If you want advanced play you can see complete instructions in the tutorial.
If you paid attention to your registration, you would have learned what “catfishing” is. If you skipped over it like all statements you sign, expect to learn and experience our only rule many times.
If you know everybody is catfishing, will you still take the bait? …You might if you are laughing hard enough and want to be caught hook, line and sinker.
