Fun Name for our Hero Cam the Man
Introduction

Cameron dedicates himself to singing. He has an incredible memory for lyrics and knowing bands inside and out. On the Karaoke stage or in front of the Cameron, he is fearless. Cameron is honest. When you hear him speak you can feel raw honest opinions and feelings. Cam often has a difficult time finding the right words to express himself, but when he does he tells of a common truth we all share.

History

Like all Super Heroes, Cameron was special at birth. The powers of Down syndrome have shaped him into the great young man that he is today. Cameron dedicates himself to anything that he wants to learn. He had aquatic therapy all his life and this created an excellent swimmer who would later master the all the skills of a resort scuba diver plus a few more. Cameron started in Tae Kwon Do and 10 years later he was a red/black belt and ready to test for his black belt when COVID hit. For years Cameron tried to learn how to ride a bicycle and finally after lots of scrapes, bumps and bruises Cameron became a successful cyclist.

Activities

Camerons like to swim, scuba dive and sail.

Super Powers

Cameron has learned how to sing a lot of different songs. Cameron would like to perform on a stage for a large auidience or beside his favorite star Justin Bieber. Cameron would like to appear on a TV show one day and have a career as an actor.

Stories about the Hero

In elementary school Cameron had a para pro with him. Cam had a short attention span and had to get up every 10 minutes or so and walk the halls with the para pro or he would get too distracted and distract other students. One year I bought Cameron an X box with the Batman CD. Cameron loved it but he would get frustrated and slam the controller down. Minutes later he would pick it up and play until his limits of concentration were reached and then slam the controller down again. This kept happening over and over and Cameron got more and more involved in the game. Eventually Cameron was able to play for an hour or more without putting down the controller sometimes for two hours. At about this time Camerons teachers called me in for a meeting. They wanted to know what I had been doing differently with Cameron. Cameron no longer needed a para pro and was telling them he would stay in his seat. I believe that when the Batman game addiction stretched out Camerons attention span, it stretched it out in all areas. Did Cameron discover X-box therapy to improve concentration skills? If he wasn’t the first, he was definitly an independent researcher. Cameron now plays the game on the expert level and easily beats it.

Stories about the caregivers

When I was growing up my friend across the street was paralyzed with spina bifida. Right after High School I started volunteering for a group called Citizens Advocacy. I was paired with a man slightly older than I was. Peter had an amazing memory, a stutter and a hard time with eye contact, social cues and sometimes basic skills. Until I moved to College Peter and I would go to all the usual activities two friends would go to. Around this time I also participated as the chief line judge (I was the only one to wear the black pants and white shirt required) of the first Special Olympics in Windsor Canada. I became friends with several athletes and continued to see them on a social basis. At this same time I joined St. Johns Ambulance and would volunteer to perform the personal hygene and daily living skills of people that were 100% paralyzed but were in town to speak at conventions. We also trained in first aid and more and were volunteer responders. I was a paramedic for over 10 years when Cameron was born and had witnessed care for people with disabilities that still haunt me. While witnessing this, I vowed that if there was ever a chance to change things, I would. I was then blessed with Camerons birth. Since that time, I have been focused on trying to provide quality of life solutions for people with moderate or severe disabilities. The people that society forgets.

Quality of life goals

Cameron would love to compete in performance art. Singing, dancing or acting.

Hero Happiness

If Cameron was involved in a group that sang, danced or performed he would be ecstatic!

Caregiver Happiness

If Cameron is happy, his mother is happy. I would love to have enough construction at the fishing shack that I live in to make it the business for disabled populations that I wrote about in my book and website called theabilityrevolution.com

Tropical sports for the Hero

Cameron would like to compete as the rescuer. Cam loves to help people.

Tropical sports for the caregivers

I would like to spend time scuba diving with my lovely wife Penny.

Keeping the Hero safe

Cameron doesn’t have any allergies or any triggers. Cameron is curious and doesn’t have good skills for walking on streets and judging traffic. Protecting from elopement is probably all Cameron needs.

Hero Dislikes

Cameron does not have anything special that he has to avoid

Team Logos
Captains and Crew

Cameron only needs a crew that understands that he does not always know or follow the complicted rules of social acceptence that seem to get harder or harder every day. Cameron would not know more than one or two words or topics that are part of cancel culture.

Team accomplishments

After scouts, I used to take Cameron to a biker bar where he used to sing Karaoke. Scouts and Karaoke seemed to do more for Cameron than anything else I can think of. Cameron has had lots of time in the water and at Tae Kwon Do as well. We engaged in teaching Cameron sight words with flash cards to prepare him to read. We got up to over 200 sight words using the flash card method. This surprised Camerons teachers during an IEP meeting. I brought a book he could read, and after the meeting when I asked them why they didn’t talk about his reading, they said he could not read. I let him read the book. (My Little Red Car – I had read the same book when I was young) They said he was not reading, he memorized it. I picked up another book and he did a decent job reading that one.

Other accomplishments

Sing and dance with Cameron. Talk about bible stories. Listen to Cameron read a bible story and then discuss it. Develop some campfire skits, scouting activities or adventures to see bands and musicians.

Other information

Cameron likes to look sharp. Details to hair and clothes are important. Camerons dad has a fishing shack under construction that can be used for camping, swimming, scuba instruction, sailing instruction and more.

Inspirational message

Cameron has love in his heart for everyone.

Special Scouts Video Project
About
This 30 minute video is about a young man with Down syndrome and how his promise to God and Country changed his life from learning how to speak to speaking in front of others.
Setting
The basement of Bethel UMC, skits around campfires and community activities
Plot
Family, friends and community show how to improve the lives of loved ones so that others will be inspired to do it too. This is filmed as an instructional docu-series with a few comedy bumpers that provide joy. Joy is a word mentioned throughout the bible and is illustrated by a gang of scurvy dogs called “Patriotic Pirates”. George Washington had over 2,000 Privateers that raided the British Navy and helped a freedom loving people win their religious freedom in the American Civil war. Patriotic Pirates provide a comical backdrop for a promise to God, Country and helping others.
The goal of this video is to demonstrate how easy it is to use the software found at piratedivebar.com so that you can easily create a quality of life improvement for your loved one.
Begin narration D block. (Add 1 more minute to introduce the team)
This story is about my son Cameron and a promise to God and Country to help other people.
At 9 years old, Cameron had just put his first 3 words together, his full name. Cameron was not speaking in full sentences.
In May of that year Cameron enrolled in Cubs. This is when Cameron heard a 30 word sentence that would inspire him with a promise to God and Country to help other people. This promise would dramatically change his life.
Cameron tried to exhaustion daily to say this promise. 10 to 20 seconds were needed just to say one word. For weeks Cameron was only able to say “I Cameron Grant Kindree promise”, which was a huge accomplishment. Lots of pizza and bowling rewards occurred around his struggle to speak and slowly he was adding a few words to his solemn promise every week.
4 months later Cameron was starting to piece together every word of the promise. Cameron started on the second part, “The Law of the Pack”, which contained 24 words.
The next month all the cubs would assemble to say the promise and the law or they would not qualify to receive badges. Cameron had been doing his best, but would it be good enough?
The original Cubmaster had moved to another town and I was now the new Cubmaster. Cameron was the only scout with special needs and I placed him at the end of the row to give him more practice by listening to the other “regular” boys say the promise and the law.
The first boy, the cool kid of the pack, stood up. My son watched him intently, ready to get an extra boost at learning how to speak. This Cub mumbled and fumbled and tried to fake his way through it. Cameron had a blank stare. The next kid, did the same thing and yet these boys could have learned it in a few minutes before class. The next boy, had said it from the year before and his version was about 75% correct. The next boy did his best performance at improv and got about 25% of it correct. Cameron had been silent and giving a blank stare to each boy as he listened to them speak. Cameron was the only boy that remembered to wear his uniform that night. He stood up, saluted and said the promise 100% perfectly!
There was silence in the room that lasted a little too long. I then asked the “Cool Kid” to stand up and recite the Law of the Pack. My son again was watching him with a blank stare. I had a proud father moment as I saw the start of a S.E.G. on the corners of Cameron’s mouth.
The law of the Pack played out the same as the promise with the other boys. Cameron stood up, saluted and recited the Law with only one half fumbled word. The room again became very silent. A mother then jumped up and on the verge of panic, rushed to her child and in an excited and concerned voice asked her boy why they could not do it. Other parents also went to their kids trying to determine how the young boy with Down syndrome was able to do so much better then their child on an intellectual task. Cameron kept his promise to do his best. This one time where Cameron was “King of the Hill” changed a lot for Cameron. His confidence, dedication to learning, social interaction, reading and speaking skills suddenly took a huge leap. This was so dramatic that I believed I had witnessed a miracle. Was it a miracle? I don’t know, but I do know it was miraculous. I firmly believe that without a promise to God and Country this miracle would not have happened.
End Narration D block.

Background of the story and the Pirate Theme

At 21 Cameron has said he wants to be a special needs pastor and combine scouts with a service.
Pack 114 is a special charter where scouts with special needs do not age out. Our previous meeting place was sold by Forsyth County. Dr. David Sanders has come to our rescue and provided a great meeting place in the basement of the old church.
Cameron is the Hero of this first story, but Pack 114 has a plan to find a total of 30 heroes and show 30 different examples of people being helped. To make this easy, we have developed software that has three parts. Video production, comedy and fund raising and financial transparency. Although this will be a solid “G” rated production, this site is for people 21 and over. For people with special needs, this age is called “Transition.” Services stop for people with disabilities when they turn 21.
Of the lowly shipboard “tars” George Washington said, “I do believe there is not on earth a more disorderly set.” Although Patriotic Pirates often battled outnumbered and lost against the British, when they won, they supplied freedom loving Americans escaping religious persecution with tons of munitions and supplies vital to their war effort for the American Revolution.
The Patriotic Pirates of Pack 114 use joy & comedy as way to win the battle of a promise to God and Country. Pirates, especially in the episodes, are known for being crafty, using deception, false flag moves, mutiny and much more to gain an advantage over a stronger opponent while keeping a promise to God and Country.
The first amendement starts with the freedom of religion and then speech and this is what Patriotic Pirates fought so hard to achieve.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

You have this much booty to squander If you like their work, make them loony!
